For award winning photographer Jeff Carsten, Southern Light Photography is a dream come true. A shooter since the 1960’s, Jeff has never lost his love of photography. After 15 years in the corporate world and 5 years as owner of an advertising business, Jeff decided to follow his passion for photography.

He apprenticed (at age 45) with a well-known wedding photographer, shot glamour and family portraits for a promotions company, all the while studying with some of the best photographers in the country. In 1997 he opened Southern Light Photography, and in 1999 won a 1st Place Award at the Professional Photographers of NC annual competition.

Jeff says, “I believe it’s possible to create pictures that speak to the heart. Whether it’s families, weddings, or corporate executives, people-photography remains the most challenging art form I know of.”
